Motivated Mondays

So after accepting that I just wasn't going to be able to run the half marathon this January, I knew I needed a new way to challenge myself where the discipline aspect wasn't just about working out.  The half (and full) marathons are still a go, just on the back burner until I am fully healed.  Since I can't go as hard as I'd like right now, and all that running made me get a little too comfortable eating extra carbs and calories, I needed a goal that included both a commitment to exercise (but doesn't worsen my hip) and a disciplined approach to eating. Enter the $100000 transformation contest! 84 days, before and after pictures and the chance to win $100000 in cash and prizes should I win! The contest is judged by the people at based on the progress between before and after pictures and is broken down into two categories: Lean (fat loss category) and Mean (muscle building category).

I have to admit, I'd LOVE the cash and prizes! But what I'm really looking forward to is proving to myself that I can fully master the food side of healthy eating and leaning out because I feel comfortable with the exercise side. I have no trouble pushing myself to the max in the gym (hence bursitis!) but I've never been half as disciplined with my diet. I need to prove to myself that I can be just as focused.

 So for the next 84 days, my workouts will be tough but safe for my injury. My eating plan will be healthy, disciplined and focused on leaning out. And hopefully I'll be 100K richer at the end! But if not, I'll still have proven to myself that I can do anything I set my mind too! My husband is doing the challenge too...I apologize in advanced to anyone who catches us in a really low carb day!
