Workout Wednesdays

Ok, this might be the last time I talk about this stupid hip bursitis situation...or not, I don't know.  I am sick of it but it's also a huge reality for me right now!  I already admitted I think I am at least partly to blame because I hate stretching.  I even talked about my love/hate relationship with yoga.  But reality is here...I am not as young as I once was and I am training harder and harder each year so stretching isn't optional for me anymore.

So I am committing to stretching at least 10 minutes after every workout.  On my rest days, I will stretch at least 30 minutes (or mayve even attend a yoga class...probably only if I have my friend Atina in Austin that day to drag me!).

So here's where I need help.  What stretches do you recommend? Do you do yoga or simply follow your own stretching routine? Are there certain books I should read, or websites or DVDs I should watch? How the heck am I going to keep from getting insanely bored with stretching?  I'd love to hear from all of you about how you stretch and how you keep it interesting!

  1. I really like Richard Hittleman's YOGA 28 day exercise plan..copyright 1969 so you can probably find it on amazon for like $3..Have I ever made it the entire 28 days without quitting, you may ask..YES, once. It's really slow, building each day so it's not overwhelming. The first week you do maybe 15 min then it builds to 30ish min a day. Like anything, I think, you get to a point where you look forward to seeing how far you can stretch..but I enjoy stretching. GOOD LUCK!!!!
