Happy Thanksgiving!

Today marks my first ever American Thanksgiving. Canadian Thanksgiving takes place back in October and its about celebrating the harvest, not pilgrims and such.

As with most holidays, we're heading into Houston to spend the day with my husbands family. While I'm sure they'll be tons of delish food, I've got some big goals I'm working on so my focus is going to be family and gratitude, NOT food. I'm finding the idea of this is made easier by the fact that its not my traditional favorites as it'll be food my husband's family typically serves - there's no emotional connection.

That being said, one of the things I'm very grateful for is in-laws that not only do not remotely fit the bad in-law stereotypes but in fact are kind, welcoming and fun as hell to be around.

A fewer things I'm grateful for this year:
1) my husband

2) my family

3) my friends

4) my sweet little Frito

5) being fortunate enough to be able to chase dreams while still putting food on the table
6) the renewed focus on faith my husband and I have found together
7) my health

8) a good job

Those are just a few. I have a great life with wonderful people in it. And I'll be counting my blessings, along with my calories today!

What are you thankful for?

What's on the menu?
