Motivated Monday - the weather sucks!

I don't know about your neighborhood but where I live, it's cold! Like seriously, colder than normal for here cold. And grey. And rainy. And did I mention cold?

I had lunch with a good friend yesterday that's a serious runner (she just did a marathon, not her first!) and she managed to drag herself out in the cold and rain yesterday to run. I can't do it. I mean I can, but I won't. But I did hit the treadmill and elliptical yesterday morning and the treadmill and weights today.

This time of year, especially with this weather, it's all too easy to get caught up in wanting to be inside, cuddled up on the couch with a hot chocolate. But summer will be back! And you don't want to be uncomfortable wearing your more revealing clothes and bikinis next year just to avoid a little chill now. At least I don't!

So join me in resisting the urge to hibernate and get active. Bundle up and head outside, choose awesome winter activities like snowboarding or skating, or find a new gym class or just keep up your regular gym routine. Whatever you do, remember summer bodies are built in winter!

How are you staying active?

What's your favorite winter sport?

What's "too cold" to head outside for you?

  1. It helps a lot if you dress for the activity. I like having good gear to go running in, and while good quality base layers can be an investment, it can also really be worth it.

    1. Totally agree! When I started running, it was in Toronto in winter. Gross. But the right clothes make it bearable...dare I say enjoyable? Although good gear is pricey, it tends to last a long time and makes you actually want to put it on and get moving!
