Motivated Mondays - A year of worrying??

I saw this little stat while reading a magazine and it shocked me. It probably shouldn't have. If you read this blog, you know I have some issues with weight and body image. But seeing it in plain site like that still shocked me. The average woman is spending almost a year of her life worrying about weight? Seriously?

And since I work in fitness and write about health, I'm going to safely assume I'm not the average woman and most likely spend MORE time worrying about weight. Although I've been consciously trying not to be so obsessive over my body, I know I still have room for improvement when it comes to not criticizing my body and not judging my perceived faults.

And when I think that I'm wasting a year or more of my life worrying about weight, I'm sad. That year could be spent traveling, hanging out with friends and family, learning a new skill or best of all, spending time with my husband. Imagine, an extra YEAR to spend with the ones you love and all you have to do is stop wasting time worrying about weight!

Sure, you can still work towards better health (I'm never going to give up exercising or healthy eating) but why worry about something I'm already working on? Pretty sure I'd rather be chatting with girlfriends, having coffee with my mum or getting beat at board games with my husband!

Do you worry about weight?

Have you ever thought about how much of your time worry takes up?

  1. 21 minutes seems about right. I worry about weight, but at random times throughout the day. Mainly when I'm getting dressed in the morning because I want whatever I am wearing to look good on me.

    1. YaYa - I totally agree! Getting dressed will def make you notice your body a lot. I'm making an effort to see my body the way others see it, instead of through my own insecurities!
