Motivated Monday - Food Prep

Confession time! I know how important food prep and meal prepping is when it comes to sticking to your diet. I know that if there is prepped, healthy food in the fridge, that's what I'll eat. I know that not planning is planning to fail. I've written several times about meal prepping and how it can really help make sticking to a weight loss or healthy eating plan much easier. But in all honesty, I almost never do it!

Why? Laziness for one! I hate spending my Sundays cooking when I could be hanging out with my husband. Also, I hate committing to what I want to eat on Friday on Monday. It also seems like a hassle and I know there will be days when my husband calls to say he's bringing something tasty home for lunch and then I'll either feel like I have to eat the prepared food (that I no longer want) or waste the food I've prepped in favor of whatever he is bringing home (and I hate wasting good food).

But I have some big goals for this year. One of those goals is to not only not gain weight over the holidays, but to actually lose some weight. I think if I prep most of my meals as healthy, clean foods, I'll have a bit of room for indulging when big events come up. Another of my big goals will be announced in my New Years post in a few weeks but food prep will be a huge part of this. Another reason for getting better at food prepping is so that I can better help my clients food prep - I mean if I can't make myself do it, how can I tell others to do it?

So this Monday I have motivating myself to food prep and telling y'all about it so I am accountable! I am prepping baked yams and turkey stuffed mini peppers. Hey, it's a start! Maybe one day I'll be one of those people on Pinterest with beautifully prepped food in matching Tupperware...maybe!

  1. I'm so with you. I hate spending Sundays in the kitchen cooking because I could be spending my time doing homework or watching football. When I do meal prep I try to cook one meal in the slow cooker and then another in the oven/stove. That seems to help out a lot but I've definitely gotten lazy as we are nearing the end of the year. I need to get back to it

    1. I know what you mean! It makes a big difference when I do it so I know I've got to make the time. Love your slow cooker idea - ill be using that next round!
