Motivated Mondays

Staying motivated through the holidays isn't easy but I think it's important to remember your goals. There's a about a million fitness challenges going on right now and I myself am participating in a few of them. Why? Well having a goal is huge for me - it helps me keep my eye on the prize through the busy Christmas season. Last year I was training for a half marathon and although an injury sidelined me, just knowing it was a possibility kept me from overdoing the eating and undoing (is that a word??) the exercise. This year I've joined a few weight loss challenges. Losing weight over the holidays? Blasphemy! But seriously, i like the accountability of working with other people in a challenge and I find focusing on losing weight as my goal for the holidays actually makes it way easier for me to pick and choose my indulgences. This doesn't work for everyone but I think a lot of us can benefit from joining a fitness challenge NOW instead of waiting for January first to make a bunch of big changes.
